Before you start
Who this course is for
For anyone thinking about getting on board and wanting to know what they are getting into, and for anyone who has already decided and is looking for the short road. It works at any age. What it takes is wanting to travel, to live alongside people from half the world, and to actually save money.
One real requirement. English is spoken on board, including on Spanish and Italian cruise lines.
Who teaches it
Twenty years on board, not a theory
I started on ships at 29, with Royal Caribbean, on a six-month contract around the Caribbean working in the on-board shops. From there I moved to activities host, and that experience got me hired as entertainment director at Iberocruceros, where I spent four years. Then came Pullmantur and Princess Cruises, first as assistant and later as director.
Everything I cover in these 19 lessons I lived from the inside. There are no days off on board, you work Monday to Sunday for months, and even so it is an experience no other job in the world gives you. That is exactly what I want you to know before you sign your first contract.
